We Are Listening!

On behalf of my lord and master, I would like to thank all those who patronized "Tikbalang: Guardians of Kalikasan."

We realize that any publication, whether electronic or on dead-tree format, will not be perfect. As the tikbalang are our first foray into the world of 3rd party publishing, it would be surprising if no such errors are found. As such, we invite you to post any and all inconsistencies/errata that you find here. Once the majority of these errors have been collected, we shall upload an updated pdf that fixes such errors.

In addition, we welcome your feedback regarding our product as a whole. ^__^

Thanks!

  1. Just picked this up at rpgnow. Very interesting and evocative race. Seems fairly balanced to me.

I've a few nits. You asked so I'll mention them :-). I'm not sure how much you want me to give away so I might be a bit cryptic.

Unearthly Gallop - It isn't clear what the duration is. If, for example, you double moved would both moves benefit from this? If you used this power, moved, attacked, and then used an action point to charge would the charge benefit?

I think that you intend the power to operate for only 1 movement action but this should be made a little clearer.

Play a Tikbaland if you want ... Some strange characters showing up immediately before the "you want to be" on the next 3 lines.

You mention that Tikbalangs are accomplished Pintados. I assume that this class will be coming later. But you might want to give a one line description here

Goldstrand Ring - The cost of this is free until at least mid Paragon levels as most characters will have an empty Ring slot.

Impulsive Accuracy - Unavailable since nobody hsa the Fleet of Foot ability :-)

  2. Hello, Paul! Thanks for posting, first of all. Let me address some of your nitpicks, but we'll also look for ways to clear things up in the pdf (eventually). Feel free to probe deeper if my replies still leave things unclear:

*UNEARTHLY GALLOP will only work on the next movement-related (note how I avoided to mention move action, as some standard actions also come with movement) you make - if your movement takes more than 1 action, only the first action will benefit from the effect.

The power says, however, that it lasts until the start of the next turn. So you can use Unearthly Gallop as a minor, use an attack power (that doesn't have movement) as a standard, and then shift a move action; being the first movement-related action that you made after using Unearthly Gallop, the shift will benefit from the racial power's effect.

The most interesting use of the racial power came about when one of our playtesters took up the habit of using Unearthly gallop as his last action whenever he didn't have a use for the minor in that turn. Being a ranger, he would use Yield Ground or a similar utility power to move away, and since he hasn't made a movement-related action since activating Unearthly Gallop, the immediate reaction took the benefit of the effect. :P

For the fix, we will likely change "movement" to "movement-related action." We're still thinking, though, for a better way to word it.

*THE CHARACTERS before each of the "you want to be" entries would be the baybayin symbol for the syllable "la." In this case, however, the symbol is just used as a bullet. One of our future products will have a sidebar on the baybayin script, but if you want to learn about it, then this site is a good place to start. The Buan Campaign Setting will mostly use baybayin for decorative purposes, though a few sentences may make its way in.

*The PINTADO is still pretty much behind closed doors, but conceptually, it is a nod to the elite painted warriors of Philippine culture. Regrettably, all my Lord and Master authorizes me to say about them for now is that they will have the primal power source. We will consider adding in a one-liner as you suggested. ^__^

*The GOLDSTRAND RING is a paragon-tier feat, so it will come into play just as rings begin to take a role in the treasure parcels (the lowest level PHB ring is tagged at 14).

*You may have missed the IMPULSIVE ACCURACY racial feature - it's the one that provides an initiative bonus to all tikbalangs. :-)

Thanks for the feedback! The one about Unearthly Gallop in particular inspires us to think of a better wording for the racial power.
