It Builds Character: Infinity's Lifepath System, Part 2

And we're back!

Last time, we went through the first seven steps of Modiphius' Lifepath System to create my character for the Infinity RPG. The WOKE AF activist from PanOceania turned out to be affiliated with a Corporation (the sellout), possibly because he has been protecting his younger sibling, who for some reason is an ALEPH aspect occupying a body borne from their mother's womb.

Here's what he looks like so far:

Attributes

Agility = 7
Awareness = 8 = 7+1
Brawn = 8 = 7+1
Coordination = 6 = 7-1
Intelligence = 11 = 7+1+1+2
Personality = 8 = 7+2-1
Willpower = 8 = 7+1

Skills

Survival (Awareness): E1
Pilot (Coordination): E1
Education (Intelligence): E1, F1
Medicine (Intelligence): E1, F1
Science (Intelligence): E1
Tech (Intelligence): E1
Lifestyle (Personality): E2
Persuade (Personality, Signature): E1, F1, Charismatic

Other

Languages: German, SvalarNorse
Earnings: 2
Gear: Analytical Kit (with 5 reagents), Sensor Suite

Life Points Remaining: 2

Let's move on to careers!

Decision Eight: Career

Alright, this one should be fairly eventful. Most players can work two careers during this step, with more careers capable of being opened if life points are spent. one of the two careers can also be willingly unemployed - in which case the player gains 1 life point because of the disadvantage.

I like the idea that for awhile, my character was unemployed as he focused his life on going to the streets to fight INJUSTICE. This gives me the Unemployed "profession" for my character's first career cycle, which confers a number of mandatory and elective benefits.

Attributes

Agility = 9 = 7+2
Awareness = 9 = 7+1+1
Brawn = 10 = 7+1+2
Coordination = 7 = 7-1+1
Intelligence = 13 = 7+1+1+2+2
Personality = 8 = 7+2-1
Willpower = 10 = 7+1+2

Skills

Survival (Awareness): E2
Resistance (Brawn, Signature): E1, F1, Sturdy
Pilot (Coordination): E1
Education (Intelligence): E1, F1
Hacking (Intelligence): E1
Medicine (Intelligence): E1, F1
Science (Intelligence): E1
Tech (Intelligence): E1
Lifestyle (Personality): E2
Persuade (Personality, Signature): E1, F1, Charismatic

Other

Languages: German, SvalarNorse
Earnings: 2 (roll from career is 1, but no effects so no decrease)
Gear: Analytical Kit (with 5 reagents), Sensor Suite

Life Points Remaining: 2+1 = 3

Whew! That's a lot of bonuses, but no extra gear. Now, I need to roll for the career event. 1d6 to determine career table, (rolls) 1, which means I should go for Table A. (Rolls d20) 10... He gained a criminal record! This reduces both my character's earnings and his social status by 1, so he now has Earnings: 1 and Social Status: Underclass. Perhaps he got too overzealous with his activism efforts, starting riots and promoting the general destruction of corporate property. Finally, this career ends by aging my character by 1d6 +1 years. (Rolls.) 7 years! That's a looot of unemployed time. He needs to get his life back on track. And what better way than to go back to his parents' Corp buddies.

2nd Career

This time, I will spend 1 LP so that I can roll a career on the Corporation Faction Table. (Rolls.) I got a 2, which means he's now an Intelligence Operative. Hah! He is essentially a rat. He probably still hangs out with his activist buddies, but he is now obliged to report their activities back with the Corp. Oh the lives that we must lead.

Since this is the second career, my character doesn't get attribute bonuses anymore. But he does get everything else:

Skills

Stealth (Agility): E1
Analysis (Awareness): E1
Observation (Awareness, Signature): E2
Survival (Awareness): E2
Resistance (Brawn, Signature): E1, F1, Sturdy
Pilot (Coordination): E1
Education (Intelligence): E2, F1, Disciplined Student
Hacking (Intelligence): E1, F1
Medicine (Intelligence): E1, F1
Science (Intelligence): E1
Tech (Intelligence): E1
Lifestyle (Personality): E2
Persuade (Personality, Signature): E1, F1, Charismatic

Other

Languages: German, SvalarNorse
Earnings: 3 (no change in social status)
Gear: Analytical Kit (with 5 reagents), Sensor Suite, Fake ID 2, AP Pistol (with 4 reloads), Breaking and Entering Kit, Recorder.

Life Points Remaining: 3-1 = 2

Welp, he's actually a bit of a hacker now. Let's see his career event as an Intelligence Operative. (Roll 1d6 = 4 for Table B, 1d20 = 6.) My character helps solve a heinous crime! He gained favor with the Corp's Intelligence community, but now his betrayal of his former activist friends is complete. To them, he is essentially a sniveling rat.

Finally, the character ages (rolls) another 6 years, for a total of 13 years as an adult. He's probably in his mid-30s now.

Decision Nine: Final Customisation

For this step, it's mostly just fine-tuning, and it's fairly relaxed. Here's what I did:

Attributes

Agility = 9 = 7+2
Awareness = 9 = 7+1+1
Brawn = 10 = 7+1+2
Coordination = 7 = 7-1+1
Intelligence = 13 = 7+1+1+2+2
Personality = 10 = 7+2-1+2
Willpower = 10 = 7+1+2

Skills

Close Combat (Agility): E1
Stealth (Agility): E1
Analysis (Awareness): E1
Observation (Awareness, Signature): E2
Survival (Awareness): E2, F1
Resistance (Brawn, Signature): E1, F1, Sturdy
Pilot (Coordination): E1
Education (Intelligence): E2, F1, Disciplined Student
Hacking (Intelligence): E1, F1
Medicine (Intelligence): E1, F1
Science (Intelligence): E2 (LP)
Tech (Intelligence): E1
Lifestyle (Personality): E2
Persuade (Personality, Signature): E1, F1, Charismatic, Magnetic Personality

Stress

Firewall = 14
Resolve = 10
Vigour = 11

Bonus Damage

Infowar (Intelligence) +3N
Psywar (Personality) +2N
Melee (Brawn) +2N
Ranged (Awareness) +1N

Other

Infinity Point Refresh: 3 = 2 + 1 (LP)
Languages: German, SvalarNorse
Earnings: 3
Gear: Analytical Kit (with 5 reagents), Sensor Suite, Fake ID 2, AP Pistol (with 4 reloads), Breaking and Entering Kit, Recorder, 10 Assets.

All that remains now is for me to figure out his Assets, though I don't have to to set all 10 of them immediately.

******

And there you have it! He's an activist sellout that returned to his corporate masters when he was down on his luck. And now he serves themunquestioningly... if not sadly.

What's a good name for him? He's of German descent, and he's from Svalarheima, so that means a German or Norse name will work. Hmm...
